The Jets took their opening possession and promptly marched into FG range – but missed the chip shot 23 yard field goal attempt. The Rams led by Matt Barkley (filling in for the injured Matt Ryan) took the air out of the football and played keep away. The Rams tied the score on a 43 yard field goal. On the Jets ensuing possession, Aaron Rodgers threw an Interception on a flat pass on the Jet side of the field; however, the return only netted four yards. The Rams offense faced 3rd and long at the Jet 13 and LeSean McCoy scored on a 13 yard run when he broke contain. The Rams lead 10 – 3 with :30 remaining in the first half when Aaron Rodgers decided he was going to make a play. An interception on a short pass at the Jet 39 gave the Rams a shot – but the return of 0 yards kept the Rams out of field goal range.
On the second play of the second half – Aaron Rodgers found Rob Gronkowski on a flat pass right for a receiver roll Long Gain. The 73 yard play put the ball at the Ram 2. Mike Gillislee scored a TD that tied the game (with the kick). The Rams took the ensuing possession, held the ball for 12:15, and kicked a 44 yard field goal take the lead.
In the 4th quarter, the Jets took a 16 – 13 lead; however, the Rams fought back and kicked a FG to make the score 16 – 16 with 2:15 remaining.
A touchback followed by pass interference, and an incomplete pass made it 2d and 10 at the Jet 43 yard line. Mike Gillislee took a handoff off tackle for 35 yards to the Ram 22. Rodgers took 3 knees and Will Lutz kicked the game winning FG. A squib kick made it final.
