I propose ...
Beginning with the 2018-2019 season, 2 copies of each defense shall be available for ownership. No owner of 2 teams may have the same defense on both teams. The defensive card draft will consist of 2 identical rounds to allow for drafting of defenses dropped after a team’s turn in the first round has already passed.
I vote yes. John.

So two teams could have the Seahawks defense and two teams could have the Broncos? Just trying to clarify.

I vote no. Just my two cents: Defensive team cards are part of the game. Its not quite like having the same QB, but why shouldn't each team be unique with all players and team cards? Maybe by having the defensive draft separately, we devalue them a little, but I would rather consider incorporating the defensive team cards into the draft than have two teams have the same card.

Not a chance in hell. This is the most cookie cutter idea of all. I'm not even interested in playing in that type of format. I'll spare you my diatribe on all the reasons this goes against all other arguments made against using draft defenses.
In case I'm unclear, that a resounding NO vote.

I'm also curious about the thought process behind this? If we were to allow this, why wouldn't we just allow two of anything? I cannot even begin to grasp why we would do this for any reason

Gentlemen,
Since we cannot seem to come to any resolve on the SOM drfat league defenses and we also have some complaints concerns about the quality of defenses available to all, using only half the defenses which allow for duplicate use, how about this as a thought to spice up the league next season.
I have a copy of every official carded version (1956-2016) and computer versions (card image available) SOM has ever produced using the current post 1981 format. What about determining the greatest 24 defenses of all time based on season statistics (Yards allowed, turnovers, etc) and using those teams for the league defensive cards? Nobody retains any defense year to year and we can still have a defensive draft where your draft position is still a tradeable asset. Nobody ever gets stuck with a "bad or unplayable" defense and nobody ever has to pay through the nose to get a "playable" defense in any given year. Plus this list can be updated season to season as new great defenses may emerge.
Imagine the fun and variety-'85 Bears anyone? '75 Steelers? '72 Dolphins? '00 Baltimore?
Thoughts? Whose on your list. Any teams you'd like to see? Let me know.
