I object to this trade.
League precedent is that you cannot acquire picks from your other team when the order of the pick has not yet been determined.
The Jags are acquiring the Pats 1st and 3rd in 2022.

The 1st round draft choice has been amended.
Apparently the language of the written rule may not apply to the 3rd round draft choice. Apparently the entire rule may be also antiquated since we put a rule in place where you must try and win (not tank) games.
And if it matters-The Patriots have ZERO intention of tanking to gain a randomly chosen draft position.

If a coach has more than one team, that coach may not trade for a player or draft pick that was on another of his teams during the current season. The “current season” for the purpose of this rule is … from the time a team becomes eligible to trade (usually sometime in June or July, when that team’s season and post-season, if any, is complete) until the trade deadline, currently February15th or the start of game 10.
On 9/12/2020 the Chiefs acquired the Patriots 2022 3rd round pick. The above is a literal copy and paste from league rules. Since the trade did not occur during the current season, it is not in violation of this rule. If someone would like to amend this rule, please propose it. But the revised trade follows the rules as written.

The precedent occurred in the ‘80s. 2 new players, one with one team, one with 2 conspired to strip one team for the benefit of the other 2 through a series of trades. The players quit/were ejected after being called out on the maneuvers. The rule was written afterwards in an attempt to prevent such actions in the future including tanking one team to the benefit of the other. At 6-2 the Patriots aren’t tanking. I’ve never seen Brian tank a game anyway. That said, the original trade was against the letter of the rule. The rule should probably be rewritten for multiple years when it comes to draft picks. The amended trade is fine. Thanks to Rich for pointing out this obtuse rule that thankfully only gets stumbled on by accident as we appear to have a group of players with integrity.

I vote to approve amended trade.
No vote is required if Rich withdraws his objection

In the extremely unlikely event the Patriots miss the playoffs, the Chiefs will agree to change the trade so the 2022 3rd round pick is the Chiefs instead of the Patriots. Then Brian has no "advantage" by tanking his 6-2 Josh Allen led Patriots team. Edit: Brian has agreed to this.

Now that this is resolved, let's get this re-worded so it's clearly stated in the future.
