I completely disagree with PFF's philosophy and I hope that SOM does NOT use it. For example, if AJ Bouye covers Tom Waddle all day and doesn't allow a completion or a LG then Bouye gets a top grade. If Jackson is covering Julio Jones and gets beat a few times -- then Jackson gets a bad grade. Does that sample make Bouye better than Jackson? I say No. PFF does NOT take the competition into consideration.
In response to your question, I think it is likely they all receive 5 CB ratings.

Anybody who saw the Texans play this year will realize that Bouye played very, very well and I won't be surpised if he's a 6 based on his individual play and his teams overall play. It will be a pretty good trick if all three get 5 ratings. Without doing any SOM research, I cant remember the last team that had a 5 rated CB as a backup.
You are correct about PFF not factoring in intangibles such as whom a player may be covering. That being said, neither does SOM. SOM is designing a replay which we all know may give players a lower rating that may not necessarily be commensurate with their real overall talent.

You memory is fading . . . Denver this year . . . Chris Harris 6, Aqib Talib 6, Bradley Roby 5.
I agrees that Bouye will be a 6 or a 5. The 11 starts makes it easier to justify them all as 5s.
