I do believe that we could play an enjoyable season using the computer game. It has been a few years since I have played the computer game; however, it would be a nice alternative to doing nothing. (I have watched everything on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Heck, I watched a German subtitled movie called "Downfall" about the last days of Hitler in his bunker). The fees are minimal and the game is very similar to the one we play. We would just have to agree on a few minor rules changes.
I would be happy to host a Zoom meeting where I can share my screen and you can view how the game operates (talking to you Pick). Please let the league know if you are interested in the computer game as an alternate to my initial proposal.
I believe Yes votes would be me, Brian D., Tony, Pat, Ryan D. Let us know so that we can explore some more options.

I am on board with using the computer game as an alternative to our normal game play to move the existing season forward until people wish to meet face to face to play their games. I'm already pretty well versed on playing the computer game but I will attend the Zoom meeting for Rich's presentation and discussion.

Edit: see my new post. Not voting on anything until we have our options clearly on the table.

I believe the computer game would give our league the most realistic chance of being able to move forward to finish the entire season.
As some of you are aware I create a computer version of our league every year and would help with any questions that people may have.
I would be willing to participate on any conference calls (zoom or any other platform that we all can use)that would help people become familiar with the computer game.

As expected, I am in favor of using the computer game for this season.
If doing so, I do not believe we would need to shorten the season at all. Speaking from experience, an average online games runs about 90 minutes. It also gives the ability to play from anywhere and anytime both parties are available.
With all of the down time due to the state of the country, it would not be asking much to play a 90 minute game.

In regards to this season, the Packers (me) will be either phone games or the rare in-person game.

In regards to this season, the Packers (me) will be either phone games or the rare in-person game. Ok call someone and they will play the ONLINE game on your behalf. Can't believe I even have to write such a stupid suggestion. People have literally offered to pay for the game for you... offered their time to help you gain more comfort with the online game... at this point, it is clear you just don't want to play the damn online game.

I don’t want to play the damn online game either. Nor do I. I would much rather play in person, but the only way we can play out this season is to either A.) delay and shorten next season or B.) play some games on the computer.

True. But something tells me not everyone will participate if this passes. We do have an alternative that has passed. If this passes then the ramifications on those that don’t participate needs to be fleshed out.

All 15 members should answer the following: Do you have a device capable of playing the computer game? Are you able to purchase the game? Are you willing to play some games on the computer so that we can complete the season and start next season on time?
When we know the scope of question 3, we can attempt to flush out any potential ramifications.

Question 1 Yes and no. It depends in what state I am playing the game.
Question 2 I could, but I won't (at least not for this season) next season . . . I'll cross that bridge when I find it.
Question 3 The answer is no. See #2

I'm fine with most of these options. We're in unprecedented times and the norm is a thing of the past.
I am open to purchasing the computer game. Do you need to buy it each season or di you buy once and pay for a season upgrade fee each new near?
I am trying to figure out a laptop to install on (can't use work laptop), but I'll figure something out.
After a few practice games, I'd be open to playing computer until this all settles and we can regroup. While i DEFINITELY prefer the face 2 face game and rolling dice, I do follow ther risk adverse path so not in a hurry to get out their until time is right.

Pete,
As a general rule you can purchase it once and then purchase season upgrades each year. You can also purchase past seasons as well. Those cost about $22 each. I would recommend as the game company adds options or upgrades to the game, re-purchasing the new version of the game is recommended.
For now, The cost to purchase the game is $44 and if you'd like to be able to view your cards during the game as well, add $18. In addition, when you purchase the game with card image option and would like to have the physical cards as well, they are heavily discounted at an additional cost of only $11. So it's $77 all in-game with card image option and physical cards. The football card set alone is $43 so for an extra $34 you get it all.
The game also has some pretty cool customization options should you choose to use them. Choose your own field design, end zone options, player uniforms and photos. Pat has all of these types of files and i've been chatting with him installing on some of my stock seasons. I love it!
Now that I've provided some information about the PC game, I too prefer face to face as my first choice, but that doesn't appear to be an option for some and furthermore is likely to extend beyond the current stay at home order. I've heard some rumblings that this could go out as far as the 4th of July, but for now that's all hearsay.
If you decide to purchase the game, let me know. I'm more than willing to play some practice games and i'm pretty sure Ryan and Pat would as well. Me and Ryan have been continuing to play in an online only league we joined and me and Pat have played a couple of games with teams from the 70's.
