How many of you in the league own the computer football version of the game?

Ok, for the sake of discussion, could we consider moving our season forward by playing some online games? I know some of are rules are slighly different but not so much that if would drastically effect the outcome of games? Thiughts?

I do. Even if it's not our league official it would be fun to play!

I just bought the game. Not sure I really know how to navigate through yet, but give me a little time to figure out and it should be ok.

How will we handle Free Safties vs. Strong Safeties; Left Offensive Tackles vs. Right Tackles; Left Defensive Ends vs Right Defensive Ends, Flankers vs Split Ends, etc. Some teams may have all Left Tackles or all Strong Safeties. Is there position flexibility with the Computer Game?

We will play with "loose substitutions" which is the same as our face to face rules.

Rules that our exactly the same as ours Home Field Advantage Linebacker Run containment Use Split Defensive Ratings Looser Substitution Restrictions Consider Flat Pass as Runs Use Yards after Catch Ratings Rules Through the Years – Use Current Rules
Rules that are reasonably similar to ours Penalties Variable Pass Interference Yardage --the games adds “18” to the sum of two dice (rather than doubling like we do).
Updated Sack Rule
The computer games uses the original Strat “Black D” die to determine pass rush and penalties. There is one penalty on the die “X” = 6; “D” appears twice (4, 5) for pass rush; and the rest are blank -- 1, 2, and 3 for us.
Main Differences: A double team of the intended receiver adds +2 to pass rush Chances of a sack increase with the distance of the pass (flat/short/long) Yardage lost on sacks is decreased by 2 on Flat Passes, and increased by 2 on Long Passes. Safety Blitz – the pass rush chart is checked on rolls of 1-5 (all three blanks and 2 Ds); however, the chances of getting a sack are greatly reduced. There is a separate “safety blitz” pass rush chart that is checked. (Our rule of adding 6 to all pass rushers but reducing the “checking” of the chart approximates the likelihood of getting a sack because we check less frequently).
Rules that are substantially different than ours Injuries -- “durable” players are less likely to have long term injuries. There is a chart and a formula based upon usage to consult.
Timing rules are different 30 and 15 second plays; but there is a two minute clock; and a “Out of Bounds” option in the last 5 minutes of each half; also, the offense can run a “Hurry Up” which prohibits substitutions on either side of the ball
Coffin Corner Punt
Punts/Kicks can’t be blocked without trying to block a punt/kick; no roughing the punter/kicker if you don’t try to block; if you try to block more likely that a “fake” punt/kick is successful; if you try to block and a (1) and (12) are rolled, then the kick was blocked (even if it would have been successful)
Only NT can play NT without losing a point on his rating If you switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4; the DT loses a rating point (all others maintain – different than our rules); and pass rush is decreased for all players. Conversely, if you switch from 3-4 to 4-3 all players pass rush increase by 1.
Reverses and Double Reverses are part of the computer game – we should not allow them. The game will allow you to place players not rated as BB in the BB position—we should continue our rule and not allow.
There is no way to impose a penalty on our “low carry” players after they have reached their 5th carry. This must be on the “honor” system. We need an to impose a penalty if it happens. League vote? Case by case basis?
