Another possibility is to have a pre-playoff round that includes all teams. The 1 seed in each conference would play the 12 seed, 2 would play 11 and so on. After completion of this round, reseed each conference and continue normally. Any visiting team that would rather forfeit may do so and long term injuries that occur during this round would not apply to the rest of the playoffs. Losing and forfeiting teams would qualify for the lottery.

We could delay the start of the 2020-2021 season until we finish the 2019-2020 season, which is what the NBA is considering.

I don't like John's idea, Not wild about Rich's idea (Equivalent to a phone game which I hate) plus I think the free Zoom usage has a 40 minute limitation. I like Mark's idea best of those, but for those who feel safe enough to play, we could just start playing again. It's not like we're in a giant crowded room of people. At most there's seven in the room on a crowded night which is under the suggested "safe" number of 10 and in our case it's more like 3-5 on a normal basis. I'm ready to play my next opponents at their location of choice when they're ready to play. Let the hand sanitizer games begin, lol.

What about FaceTime? To expedite the rest of the season we could remove penalties for games played and allow forfeits for this season. Obviously deadlines no longer apply.

I like the idea of just delaying start of the next season to finish this one accordingly. In my opinion, too many trades and moves have been made by several teams for this year to not finish.

I'll break out my Slipknot mask accordingly if I feel the need to wear a mask!.
Facetime is the same as Zoom without the time limit.
I'm not even remotely on board with removing penalties or allowing forfeits either. removing penalties at this point is too extreme of a rule change and forfeits are bullshit. Another idea is we could just start playing again. On most occasions there's only 3-5 people tops in the back room at the same time. Playing a game of Strat is probably less risky then going to your local gas station, dispensary, liquor store or grocery store and even less dangerous than handling your daily mail or Amazon packages.
I'm ready to play my next opponents at their location of choice when they're ready to play. Patriots have the Jets next. Not sure who the Jaguars have.
***As a side note, this is also the perfect time to consider the option of playing games using the PC game. The cost is minimal if you don't already own it and I believe Pat already has a league file made. There would obviously be a couple minor rules adjustments, but those would be way less annoying than more phone games, Facetime or Zoom games. This would allow those who don't want to play face to face and likely even be more convenient for those out of state. A typical PC game takes about 90 minutes which may be helpful to people who traditionally have scheduling issues on top of Coronmania.
Thoughts? Discussion?

Actually let me restate my post above. The Patriots and Jaguars will not be playing any games via Face Time, Skype, Zoom, Using the force, etc. Any phone games that would normally occur I will play in their typical fashion. Anybody else who wants to play using any of the above methods is up to them.

While I cannot speak for John, I believe consideration should be made for the fact that playing games at his house exposes him and his family in greater multiples than our factors. three to five people in the back room X each member of the league X multiple games X everyone that each player has been in contact for each of the last two weeks greatly increases the chances for expose.
He and his family may have health issues that he must consider before we assume that we can just drop by.

That's why I said I'll play anybody who's ready to play at the place of their choice. If John doesn't want us there, I assume John will speak up accordingly. I familiar with an X multiple and i'm sure John is likely dealing with that accordingly since i'm pretty sure Advanced Maytag is still doing service calls daily. Either way, whatever anybody is comfortable with. Face to face, PC version etc. For me, i'm not playing any games via web cam services.

Brian, my comments were not aimed at you but were posted for general conversation, in part that we might not have our normal Rosemont access, as we spitball our options..

I’m ok with back room games. Let me know in advance of any scheduled games as usual. There are 14 different views of the current C-19 situation and I don’t blame anyone for not wanting risk and don’t think penalties are in order for siding with caution. It takes about 9 months for our league to complete a 16 game regular season. So, if we extend this season into the fall of this year then next season would have to have a reduced game schedule or we will end up running late next year also. Hence my proposals. The later one takes into account improvements made by some to their teams by allowing all teams to compete for a playoff run.
I don’t like any of the options available and any other proposals are likely to have hair on them also, but I’m all ears. I encourage everyone to keep an open mind and be flexible as we get through this. All major professional leagues have had shortened seasons. In 38 years this may be our first. This sucks.

Where are we at now in the schedule? Who is not caught up through week 10? Maybe they're perfect candidates for the suggested formats to at least get everybody to the same level of games played.

I am risk averse. Until a cure exists we likely will see a pattern of reciprocating outbreaks of varying intensity based of population density and the number of human transmission contacts. I trust human nature to eventually defy safety protocols for any number of predictable human desires. I will be limited to playing with technology (phone ok) for the foreseeable future. I pray for a vaccine or cure. I hope you all stay safe and healthy.
