Gentlemen,
Once again this season we are ridiculously behind where we are supposed to be at on the league schedule. The 7th of February marks the 2nd deadline to have week 9 completed and we have some teams that have not even completed week 6. I know in some cases there are legitimate excuses to have fallen behind, but it's now out fo control with no corrective action in site.
Consider this to be an official proposal to be implemented begginning with the 2018 season-I vote "YES"
In addition to scheduling rules we already have in place (which are not being followed) any owner who does not request an extension for their team when they will miss a 2nd deadline will be penalized a draft choice (see below). With an extension request there must be a drop dead date to play that game of no more than 14 days after the 2nd deadline. If the game has not been played at that point for any reason, the draft penalty below will be assessed*.
1st Offense-5th round draft choice in the upcoming draft.
2nd Offense-4th round draft choice in the upcoming draft.
3rd Offense-3rd round draft choice in the upcoming draft.
4th Offense-2nd round draft choice in the upcoming draft.
5th Offense-1st round draft choice in the upcoming draft.
If the team does not have that choice available, then the following year is checked for availability and the draft choice removed from that draft year.
*If an owner has clearly made attempts to schedule their game and the other owner is clearly the egregious offender then the owner making valid attempts to schedule will not be penalized. If both owners are clearly at fault, then the game shall become a double forfeit as well to keep the schedule moving forward. Verification of attempts (Email, text message etc) can be submitted to the league for review/approval. The best way to verify your attempts will be to post in the scheduled games area of the forum.
On a side note-Being this far behind sucks the fun right out of the league. It was as bad as it's ever been last season and its worse this season Playing a game every 4-6 weeks when you have two teams is bullshit. I could see this being a bump in the road if we were behind because of Brent's heart attack and Ryan being away at college August through mid December, but that barely slowed us down, if at all. Too many excuses to not play along with last minute cancellations or no shows. If playing your games in a timely manner cannot be done then consider an online league or a different hobby. Oh yeah, if your going to be late for a scheduled game have the common courtesy to let your opponent know rather than just showing up late while your opponent sits around with their thumb up their ass. I know shit happens so just be proactive about it, otherwise it's just not cool.
