Regarding Nickel/Dime subs -- I just ran it in the computer game. I was able to make a 4 rated CB my "nickel" even though I had a DB on the roster. Non-issue for me.
Regarding SS/FS -- we had previously allowed FS/SS to switch with a rating decrease. However, we recently changed the rule to allow free substation without penalty for myriad reasons: we allow OLT/ORT; there is not much difference between FS/SS in many NFL defenses; Strat has rated guys as SS that we know are FS; etc. The reason I bring it up is that the SS 6 run number is important for flat passes. If a FS is given a 6 run number, the gamemaker does not anticipate the FS being used to combat the Flat Pass. That's my only point.
To Mark's point, the Super Bowl is a great place to discuss trades and rules.

If the computer game allows the CB/SS/FS to be a nickel or dime instead of a DB, I'm good there.

Not copying and pasting as I had intended, however, the most recent season I could find has Cam Newton leading the way with 53. QB's do not run the ball in the NFL! We could always play college football

Brian,
So are you saying you would like to see ER limits on the QB's? I assume this would include the pistol QB's?

53 carries is above the threshold we currently use. Personally I'd love to use the SOM rule for limited carries/receptions players...ALL POSITIONS but for simplicity sake HB's under 50 using the 1 guessed right is possibly as close as we will get. Also ,Why are we targeting just QB's when cards like Tyreek Hill will have 200+ carries?

My brother and I would always limit a running back to 10% of the season's carries before he is always guessed right. A 200 carry guy could then carry 20 times in a game without penalty. A rule like this would still allow us to play the game but would make you use more than 1 back. Giovanni Bernard, Denard Robinson, Percy Harvin, Tyreek Hill -- might get 2 - 10 carries a game -- before their usefulness disappears. If you have to use all your offensive weapons, the game is different. We could do it simply with a piece of paper on the table and an X every time someone gets a carry. All this debate would then be eliminated.
Certainly you could exceed the number of carries you would have in the regular season but you don't want to limit too much so that the defense knows exactly what you must do in a given situation because of usage restrictions.
